Inspired by South American cave paintings, these pieces reference prehistoric murals where hunter-gatherers left handprints on cave walls. The exact purpose of these marks is unknown, although some scholars interpret them as an expression of the human desire to be remembered. Each piece is hand-carved from tezontle (a type of volcanic rock) in Mexico City.
